ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mark’s earliest inspiration for his art came from summer days as a kid slogging through swamps with a new camera and a fresh roll of Kodachrome slide film.

Appreciation and respect for the natural world motivated him then and continues to be the driving force behind his work today.

He graduated from the New England School of Photography in Boston, Massachusetts in 1980. His time there was divided equally between developing commercial skills and exploring the world of fine art photography.

In 1983, Mark opened a studio in Boston and launched his commercial career. During his 40 years as an advertising photographer, he acquired such noted clients as Bose Audio, Titleist Golf, Bell Helmets, Raleigh Bicycles, Fischer Skis, Chase Bank, American Express and Boston Scientific to name just a few.

In between commercial projects, Mark continued to build a large portfolio of fine art photography. After decades of keeping the work stowed away in dark places, he sought public venues for his art. His inaugural show opened at the True North Gallery in Hamilton, MA, in September of 2012. His work has since been seen at museums and gallery spaces throughout New England.

Mark lives near the ocean in Beverly with his wife, Andi. They can be found wandering the beaches year round and kayaking the estuaries when the weather cooperates.
